PROF NIILO HALLMAN PASSES ON - Jan 2011
The Paediatric Association of Nigeria is greatly saddened by the passing away in January, 2011 of Prof Niilo Hallman. He was one of the pillars of international paediatrics, and an honorary member of the paediatric Association of Nigeria. He is remembered by various members of this Association as a kind man, a good friend of Nigeria who was very interested in paediatric education in Nigeria and indeed in Africa. His presence at the inaugural meeting of the Union of African Paediatric Societies and Associations (UNAPSA) in 1973 in Zaria, Nigeria is well remembered. Indeed in 1990, he facilitated the hosting of the international paediatric conference in Jos, Nigeria.We as an Association honour his memory as one of the world renowned paediatricians of our time.
